Nutrition Services

children with wheelbarrows in gardenHead Start/Early Head Start provides carefully planned foods to help meet your child's daily nutritional needs serving a healthy breakfast, lunch, and a snack every day. Children and adults eat together in family style meals served in the classrooms. Children are encouraged to make nutritious food choices and try foods new to them. We do not give candy to the children as a treat, reward, or part of any meal.

The teachers also include healthy habits as part of everyday routines, such as brushing teeth, discussing food choices and exercise, both indoors and outside. The monthly menu plan is provided to families to help in planning and to share ideas for meals. Families receive information on living a healthy, active life.
